In 1879 English historical painter and watercolorist Edward Henry Corbould designed an emblem for the Typographical Association. The contents of this elaborate emblem were discussed in Henry Slater's The Typographical Association 1849-1899. A Fifty Years Record. (1899). Note the incorporation of Printing Machinery in the lower right, and manual typesetting in the lower left.
