The Institute of Military Engineering at Harbin Builds the 901, the First Chinese Computer

In 1958 the Institute of Military Engineering at the University of Harbin (now Harbin Engineering University) built the 901, a vacuum tube computer copied from an earlier Soviet computer. This project, affiliated with the Beijing Institute of Computing Technology, was the first electronic computer built in the People's Republic of China.
