This small poster would have been posted on walls around Windsor. It was folded early in its history, and damaged, but survived because it was mounted on linen at an early date.
Until 1827, when he declared bankruptcy, writer and publisher Charles Knight was in partnership with his father, also named Charles Knight, in the publication of the Windsor and Eton Express newspaper from their bookshop at 2 Castle Hill, Windsor. Before the crash of 1826 the younger Charles Knight also published several books and periodicals. This small poster is a rare record of one venture early in Charles Knight's career.
